Meet Philipp Rüdiger

 

Candidate Profile:

Philipp is the father of two current MIS students. Moritz is in 9th-grade,  Theodor is in 6th-grade, and the youngest Rüdiger is planned to join MIS in 2026.
 
He is originally from northern Germany and has lived in the US and Switzerland. 
 
Philipp has worked 20+ years in sales and marketing leadership positions in the software industry including 15 years in senior executive positions at Microsoft. Since 2019, he has held the title of Executive Advisor for B2B SaaS and Private Equity companies.
His role includes advisory and interim management engagements with B2B SaaS growth companies in direct sales, partner sales, marketing, and growth scaling. He also supports private equity/venture capital companies with due diligence within a commercial focus as well as M&A transactions.
 

The skills he would add to the Board of Directors for Munich International School include experience in strategic planning for not-for-profit organizations, experience in sales, marketing and communications, experience in finance & fundraising, digitization, and board governance. 

His previous roles which are relevant to his Board candidacy include the following:
 
  • movingimage EVP GmbH (Managing Director and Chief Revenue Officer) - almost 3 years
  • C-Level and MD capacity to run Direct Sales, Partner Sales, Customer Success Management,
    Marketing, Video Production, and Professional Services with full PnL responsibility. Overseeing
    business with double-digit million ARR and 100 employees.
  • Yttrium GmbH (Advisory Partner) - 1 year 3 months
  • Advisory mandate to support B2B technology investor in due diligences and
    operational excellence in Enterprise and Channel Sales, Marketing and Product Strategy for its
    portfolio companies.
  • Microsoft Germany, Switzerland and EMEA operations (various Leadership roles) - 15 years 6 months
  • Several Senior Executive roles in Sales, Marketing and Product Leadership (last role as Head of Channel Business for Microsoft Germany with $0.5 bn revenue responsibility)
  • Munich International School e.V. (Chair of Technology Strategy Group) - 12 months
  • Pro bono engagement to support the school's technology strategy and amend future curriculum with technology aspects such as AI, Digital Citizenship, Robotics, etc.
Philipp has completed Executive Education for Board Members at Governance Akademie, Munich (Qualification as “Qualifizierter Aufsichtsrat”/“Qualified Board Member) at Deutsche Börse AG.

 

Philipp sees the functions and priorities for the Board of Directors as follows:

  • Impact long-term Strategy of the school, help to pave the way to the school of the future
  • Help to secure long-term financial stability of the school (Capital Campaign)
  • Support the school when it comes to digitization (e.g. to enable collaboration between students, teachers, community and other international schools)
  • Help to shape future curricula also with a focus on Digital Education
  • Collect and give feedback on future job requirements from various industries
