Candidate Profile:

Tim Trampedach is the father of Nico, a 1st-grade student at MIS. Tim is also an alumnus of MIS himself, a graduate of the class of 1996.

He is a dual national of Germany and the USA. After graduating from MIS he went to college and then lived in the United States through the summer of 2024. Upon returning from San Francisco with his American wife and bilingual son, there was no question he would seek admission for Nico to MIS, given how formative the experience was for Tim himself.

Tim now works as a Principal Product Manager at Helsing, a Munich-based defense company, where he leads the development of products which use Artificial Intelligence to protect our democracies.

His educational background includes the following degrees:

  • MBA - University of Chicago Booth School of Business

  • Bachelor of Science - Columbia University

  • IB Diploma - Munich International School

Previous roles which are relevant to his Board of Directors candidacy include:

  • Chairman, Chicago Booth Angel Network Silicon Valley, 2019-2024: founded an angel investor group with ~50 paid members, which hosts 4-5 early stage startup pitch events annually run by a volunteer team

  • Board member, Cowboy Heaven HOA in Big Sky, Montana, 2022-present: homeowner’s association with a complex governance structure which requires delicate stakeholder alignment

  • Founder & CEO, Torqued Distribution, 2018-2024: eCommerce automation technology for direct digital API-based connections between manufacturers, warehouse distributors and online sellers

  • Senior Director of Product, LendUp, 2016-2018: responsible for the cross-functional teams which built the in-house infrastructure of an online lender to move 10’s of millions of dollars daily

Tim believes he can contribute to the school in the following ways:

  • Contribute to the ongoing Head of School search to ensure a strong leader who will deliver many years of strong continuity is recruited.

  • Build a culture of competitive and enthusiastic athletics at MIS. As Athlete of the Year of his class, he drew numerous positive and also humbling lessons out of participation in tennis, skiing, soccer, swimming and volleyball, so he’s passionate about having this in place again at MIS.

  • As the school nears full enrollment in some grades, work on ensuring each grade is as culturally balanced as possible and thus provide a true international experience.
