In May, Malaika will graduate from MIS as a "Lifer", just like her father Terry, who also attended MIS from kindergarten to graduation. In addition to IB exams and university applications, she is very busy with music . . . as always.
Since starting formal piano lessons at the age of 4, she has continued to develop musically, winning state, national, and international competitions and performing on several television and radio shows. At the age of 12, she gave her own classical piano concert at the Louvre Museum in Paris, and at 13 she performed as a guest pianist with a professional orchestra at the Berlin Philharmonic. At 14, she composed the official Munich International School song 'In the Woods', which has since been used at official events, graduation ceremonies, etc.
At 15, together with Aricella Schäfer, she won 1st prize at the state level and 3rd prize at the national level at Jugend Musiziert in the 'piano and violin' category, with Malaika on piano and Aricella on violin. And for the past three years, she has combined her interest in music with philanthropy by working with Engagement Global, writing songs about global issues and performing at their conferences. One of these songs came 3rd out of thousands of applicants from around the world and was released on the album "One World", with proceeds going to charity.
Malaika is currently a finalist in the very popular German casting show Dein Song. On March 15, she will perform her latest song, 'You Don't Know Me' live on TV channel KiKA, together with German pop star Kamrad. Some of Malaika's MIS peers will be present in the Cologne TV studio that day to cheer her on. We encourage all of our community to support Malaika by watching the show on TV. Be sure to tune in to KiKA on March 15 at 19:05 to watch the Dein Song Finals and support Malaika with your vote!
*You will be able to cast your vote by SMS or the KiKa website, as will be instructed during the show.
