Meet Sidney Nova/Can Ocek!
Bio: I've been interested in music production since I started learning Garage Band in fourth grade, and this has grown parallel to my interests in rap music and video game music. I performed numerous times at MIS during my time as a student, and run a SoundCloud and YouTube account. Currently, I am working on my next music video: (Sidney)
I play classical, electrical, acoustic, bass guitar and do vocals, with an interest in a variety of genres such as rock, flamenco, pop and classical. I have been composing and learning practical music theory along with production and recording for Youtube music videos. I have been recently getting into sharing my knowledge with others. (Can)
Workshop description:
We will be breaking down various hit songs into their core elements, then inviting students to create their own takes on these elements. By the end of each workshop, the students should have a rough outline of an original piece of music. Our aims are to make songwriting more familiar, to make music theory less abstract and more useful, and to encourage students to engage in self-expression through music creation.
