Hear It From Our Students
We asked Junior School students what they like best about life and learning at MIS.
This virtual open house video overviews life and learning in our Junior School. The Junior School curriculum is a registered IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), designed for students between the ages of 4 and 10 years. The PYP is an international, transdisciplinary programme designed to foster the development of the whole child by encompassing students’ social, physical, emotional and cultural needs in addition to their academic welfare.

"We have children from around the world, and the PYP Programme is specially designed to provide an international programme. Here at our school, many of our students - actually, the majority of our students - in our Early Childhood, 1st grade, and even into the upper grades, come to our school with very limited or sometimes no English language skills at all. That is not a problem for us. We are very well-equipped in our School to provide small-group instruction to help our students develop the English language skills they need quickly in order to be able to function and be able to thrive in the classroom".
"In my role, it is important to be a part of the learning beyond the planning and assessment of lessons. Experiencing the lessons from the student perspective helps us as educators keep students at the centre of our lessons. On other occasions, we will co-teach which has several different formats. Equally important, students will also be supported in teaching. Students frequently teach others, this is known as reciprocal teaching and this process helps students consolidate their learning, gain new understanding and learn through different perspectives of the same concepts or content."
